City of Innovators: Mayor Launches Campaign to Highlight Innovation in SF

World-changesMayor Edwin M. Lee today launched the San Francisco is Where the World Changes Campaign with a six minute video celebrating the San Francisco-based companies and innovators and promoting San Francisco as the ideal place for doing business for potential companies and entrepreneurs and for workforce and investment.

“It is important that we celebrate and publicize the people and companies that make San Francisco the Innovation Capital of the World,” said Mayor Lee. “These great San Franciscans and their companies are continuing San Francisco’s history of changing the world. From our immigrants who built the railways, to the hippie culture that spawned a generation of social change to the products and ideas these innovation companies are currently growing, San Francisco is and will continue to be the place to come to create the next thing.” Read more.

Improving Neighborhoods: Mayor Celebrates Community Benefit Districts

NeighborhoodToday Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced the results of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development’s (OEWD) Impact Analysis of San Francisco’s Community Benefit Districts (CBDs). The evaluation was conducted to measure the success of existing districts in meeting strategic goals set forth for the CBD program including the improvement of the public realm, cleanliness and public safety and the creation of economically viable neighborhood business districts.

“Community Benefit Districts are a prime example of successful public-private partnerships,” said Mayor Lee. “This new OEWD Impact Analysis demonstrates the positive and measurable impacts that CBD service and investment have on our City’s commercial neighborhood corridors. More importantly, as each neighborhood takes an economic step forward, so does our City.” Read more.

New Assessor: Mayor Announces Carmen Chu as Assessor-Recorder

Mayor-chuMayor Edwin M. Lee today announced his intention to appoint District 4 Supervisor Carmen Chu as Assessor-Recorder, filling the vacancy left by Phil Ting who became California Assemblymember of the 19th Assembly district in December 2012.

“Carmen Chu will lead the Assessor-Recorder’s office with the same level of budgetary expertise and fiscal prudence she demonstrated when she provided the leadership needed to develop the City’s first two-year budget, balance a $6.8 billion annual city budget and close budget shortfalls of $380 million,” said Mayor Lee. “Carmen’s exemplary budgetary skills as Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Board of Supervisors have benefited the entire City and she shares my values of equity, efficiency and responsiveness to all San Francisco residents.” Read more.

Honoring our Veterans: Veterans Day Celebrations

Veterans_8nov12Veteran's Day is special day in San Francisco. We honor all the brave men and women who have served our country. We appreciate all the sacrifices made to protect our freedom.

The City will host the 93rd Annual Veterans Day Parade starting on Market St & Second at 11:00 am this year.
