Mayor Announces San Francisco to Host 2015 Conference of MayorsMayor Edwin M. Lee today announced San Francisco awarded as the host of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) 83rd Annual Meeting in June 2015.

Mayor Lee and SFMTA Unveil New Hybrid BusesMayor Edwin M. Lee and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which oversees transportation in the city, including the Municipal Railway (Muni), today announced that for the first time since 2007 the Agency will begin deploying new Muni buses this week. As part of the Agency’s plan to replace the entire bus fleet over the next five years, this procurement of 62 low-floor biodiesel-electric hybrid buses from New Flyer Industries will improve transit service, improve the overall customer experience, and bring clean, brand-new vehicles that use state-of-the-art hybrid and biofuel technologies to make one of the cleanest fleets in the nation even cleaner. America's Cup: Mayor Lee Releases Updated 'People Plan'Today Mayor Edwin M. Lee and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) released the updated America's Cup "People Plan," an innovative transportation plan for the 34th America’s Cup events beginning next month in San Francisco.

"The People Plan builds on the strengths of our City and region and ensures that everyone in San Francisco this Summer, whether going to see the races on the Northern Waterfront or heading to work South of Market, will enjoy safe, reliable and quick options for their trip," said Mayor Lee. "The legacy improvements realized in the People Plan, combined with new levels of cooperation with our regional transit partners, will benefit the entire region and set the stage for San Francisco to remain a major international destination and a world-class City."

Driving Innovation: Mayors Lee and Bloomberg to Co-Host Tech SummitToday Mayor Edwin M. Lee and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that they will co-host the second annual Bloomberg Technology Summit to bring together technology and business leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the nation's top digital cities and examine what other cities can do to grow their tech sectors and enjoy the economic benefits that come with it. 

The announcement was made at Square headquarters in San Francisco, a company that builds technology to make commerce easy for everyone. The first session of the summit will take place in New York City on September 30th, and the second session will occur in San Francisco early in 2014.The event is being co-hosted by Bloomberg Philanthropies and San Francisco Citizens Initiative for Technology and Innovation (sf.citi).
