City Launches Give2SF Donation Portal

City Launches Give2SF Donations ProgramMayor Edwin M. Lee and Treasurer José Cisneros today launched Give2SF.org to provide a simple official online portal for donors to give to City departments and programs within the City and County of San Francisco.

“Give2SF.org is the product of collaboration between many City agencies and departments to streamline the system of giving,” said Mayor Lee. “I thank Supervisors David Chiu and Carmen Chu, the Office of the Treasurer-Tax Collector, the Office of the Controller, the City Administrator’s Office, the Department of Technology and the Department of Emergency Management for their support and efforts in building the Give2SF.org portal. San Francisco is a well known for its philanthropic charity, and this new portal provides San Franciscans a generous opportunity to give back to the City and support causes that improve the lives of those less fortunate in our City.”

“The idea for Give2SF.org came from a check that was sent to my office from a local resident. He included a note explaining that he knew the City was short on funds, and he wanted to help,” said Treasurer José Cisneros.  “The City already had many opportunities to donate, such as the Voluntary Arts Contribution Fund in property tax bills, but did not have a consolidated location for potential donors to review these opportunities. The generosity of this donor helped initiate a multi-departmental collaboration to centralize giving opportunities to City agencies.”
