Mayor and Chief Gascon Announce Drop in S.F. Violent Crime Rate
Mayor Gavin Newsom today joined Police Chief George Gascón and District Attorney Kamala Harris to discuss this year’s third quarter accomplishments of the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) and the continuing drop in the overall crime rate in the third quarter of 2010.
From January through September of 2010, there has been a 9% reduction in overall crime between 2009 and 2010 and a 13% reduction between 2008 and 2010. Total violent crimes saw an overall reduction of 4% from 2009 to 2010 and a 13% reduction from 2008 to 2010.
