05/27/09 - Mayor Gavin Newsom issued an Executive Directive authorizing the Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs to oversee the city’s census efforts, launched the 2010 Census Complete Count Committee, co-sponsored a resolution urging the federal government to recognize same-sex couples in the 2010 Census count, and announced plans to send a letter to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce calling for adequate local funding for outreach.
