Mayor Newsom releases Non Profit Reform Report

Partnering with Nonprofits in Tough Times Mayor Gavin Newsom and Sandra Hernández, M.D., CEO of The San Francisco Foundation, today announced the release of the Mayor’s Community-Based Task Force report, "Partnering with Nonprofits in Tough Times." Mayor Newsom commissioned the Task Force and report, and appointed Dr. Hernández and City Attorney Dennis Herrera as co-chairs. Comprised of key city, nonprofit, and philanthropic leaders, the Task Force was charged with reviewing and analyzing the city’s Departments of Public Health and Human Services’ nonprofit relationships and contracts totaling more than $500 million.

Swine Flu - Information on Protecting Your Health

H1N1 swine flu is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. It was first found in people in April 2009. Mitch Katz, MD, Director of Health, San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH), earlier announced that the California Department of Public Health has confirmed the first case of 2009 H1N1 Flu in a San Francisco resident.

Mayor Announces Local Stimulus Efforts

Today, Mayor Gavin Newsom launched RecoverySF.org (www.recoverysf.org) to highlight the progress of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) in the City and County of San Francisco (CCSF). The site allows the public to track grants that San Francisco has applied for and won, view official correspondence to and from Washington D.C. on matters related to federal stimulus and keep up to date on upcoming public meetings regarding the ARRA.
